This position will oversee and manage staff in the Accounts Payable area, as well as manage the month end and year-end processes, including approvals of journal entries, refunds, and other financial materials requiring oversight and approval.<font face="ArialMT, serif"><span></span></font></p><p><span></span></p><p><b><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,sans-serif;mso-fareast-font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;mso-ansi-language:EN-CA;mso-fareast-language:EN-US; mso-bidi-language:AR-SA">DUTIES</span></b></p><ul><li>Audits all invoices prepared by Accounts Payable to check for accuracy (accounts, amounts, adequate information on posting, tax calculations and correcting for capital and prepaid items).</li><li>Performs sales tax self-assessment.</li><li>Guides the team and/or performs more complex reconciliations of vendor accounts and the payable ledger to subledger.</li><li>Reviews processes and procedures to find opportunities for improvement in the accounts payable department.</li><li>Transfers student financial information monthly to accounting system; reconciles related accounts.</li><li>Verifies and posts weekly cash deposits.</li><li>Approves all daily journals recording banking activity.</li><li>Lead AP team during audit to help coordinate timely submission of working papers and assists where required to meet deadlines, maintaining a high standard of accuracy, completeness and organization.</li><li>Provides daily supervision to accounts payable staff .</li><li>Monitors the quality of service provided by department especially in the following areas: communication, customer service and completeness of work</li><li>Works with various business areas on projects to put new systems, upgrades or improvement in place to advance the business.</li><li>Prepares T4As for the AP payments.</li><li>Assists Controller in the budgeting process, month-end closing and year-end audit where required.</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul><p><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;"><b>QUALIFICATIONS</b>:</span></p><ul><li><span>Post-Secondary education in accounting or related discipline</span></li><li><span>CPA Designation&nbsp;</span></li><li>A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar accounting position preferably in a not-for-profit charitable sector and/or educational institution</li><li>Practical knowledge of sales tax regulations and compliance, finance and accounting procedures and regulations</li><li>Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the needs at both campus</li><li>Experienced with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or other similar ERP systems</li><li>Advanced Excel skills and solid understanding in other MS Office products</li><li>Functional knowledge of general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable operations in a not-for-profit and/or educational environment</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines</li><li>Good interpersonal skills – able to communicate effectively oral and written to all levels of staff as well as external contacts with minimal supervision</li><li>Exceptional organizational skills and detail orientation</li><li>Leadership skills to provide support to direct reports</li><li>Exemplary customer service skills to deal with a wide variety of internal and external clients</li><li><span>A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a similar accounting position preferably in a not-for-profit charitable sector and/or educational institution</span></li><li><span>Functional knowledge of general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable operations </span></li><li><span>Good interpersonal skills able to communicate effectively oral and written to all levels of staff as well as external contacts with minimal supervision</span></li><li><span>Exceptional organizational skills and detail orientation</span></li><li><span>Experienced with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and other relevant accounting software</span></li><li><span>Advanced Excel skills and solid understanding in other MS Office products</span></li><li><span>Exemplary customer service skills to deal with a wide variety of internal and external clients</span></li></ul><p><b><u><span>To Apply:</span></u></b><span> Please submit your resume and cover letter through the link.</span></p><p><i><span>&nbsp;</span></i><i>On the cover letter, please indicate the title of the position that you are applying for and desired salary.
